As part of a globally recognised technology organisation, the position combines practical learning with genuine opportunities for development. The Camlin Academy Placement Programme gives selected candidates real responsibility from day one plus ongoing mentoring.
Placement runs for 12 months, making this suitable for second-year students from relevant degree courses seeking valuable industry experience. You’ll also access incentives like subsidised gym membership, company wellness schemes and healthcare benefits.
Role activities largely focus on Microsoft-based platforms, providing comprehensive technical support for a large-scale user base. Your growth will be supported in a collaborative, innovation-focused setting.
All in all, this is a paid, structured and well-resourced entry point for those determined to break into a technology career.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Core duties include troubleshooting and technical support for Microsoft Windows systems, Office 365, SharePoint, Teams, and email platforms across physical and cloud infrastructure.
You will act as a first line response for IT service desk queries—analysing, resolving, and escalating issues as appropriate to the wider IT team.
Maintaining, updating, and auditing IT equipment form regular parts of the workload. Documentation of processes and user instructions is also vital for smooth operations.
Coordinating procurement of IT equipment and occasionally visiting other office sites may be necessary, ensuring hands-on end-to-end IT support experience.
Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills are key, as you’ll assist users over the phone and on location, supporting both cloud-based and on-premise platforms.
Pros of the Role
This opportunity stands out thanks to structured mentoring, meaning you’re never left unsupported and always learning practical, career-boosting skills.
The company culture actively values growth, innovation and collaboration, with regular training and a clearly defined progression route for those who show ambition.
Cons of the Role
The 12-month placement may be limiting if you’re looking for a long-term permanent position at this stage, so consider your career goals before applying.
Occasional travel to other offices and the breadth of support tasks may prove demanding for applicants looking for narrowly defined day-to-day routines.
Veredicto
For ambitious individuals ready for responsibility and keen to build foundational IT experience with global exposure, this placement is an exceptional choice.
Those seeking a dynamic, people-centred and learning-first work environment will find plenty on offer, especially anyone who thrives in collaborative teams supporting critical business infrastructure.
